Media Statement Issued by the Islamic Charity Projects Association

The Islamic Charity Projects Association strongly condemns the regrettable incident in which pieces of pork were thrown at the gate of the Warragul Mosque – Victoria. This provocative act offends the feelings of Muslims and violates the sanctity of the place of worship, as well as the values of coexistence, respect upon which our society is built.
Such unacceptable behaviour is completely contrary to human ethics and constitutes an attack on freedom of worship, as well as an attempt to spread hatred and sow division among members of the community.
While we reaffirm our absolute rejection of such actions, we express our full solidarity with the Muslim community in Warragul – Victoria, and we call upon the relevant authorities to pursue their investigations and take the necessary legal measures against those responsible for this offence.
The Association also calls upon all members of the community to uphold the Australian values , peacefully living together , and not to allow such isolated acts to undermine the harmony and coexistence that unite people of different cultures and backgrounds.
