Under the theme “Muhammad — We Live Upon His way,” the Muslim Welfare Trust of Victoria, in cooperation with the Hararian Organisation, held a major community celebration marking the blessed birth of Prophet Muhammad at Westgate Indoor Sports in Altona, with strong attendance from Melbourne’s diverse communities.
The event welcomed prominent religious leaders, including Hajj Mohamed Mehio, President of the Islamic Charity Projects Association (ICPA); Dr Sheikh Ibrahim El Shafie, Deputy Secretary-General of Darulfatwa – Islamic High Council of Australia; Sheikh Muhammad Mahdi, Imam of the Hararian Organisation; Rabih Abdulrahman MWT; and Sheikh Khaled Halabi Imam of Usman Mosque Glenroy, alongside Imams and representatives of Islamic and community organisations.
The celebration was also attended by a distinguished group of political and government representatives, including the Hon. Melissa Horne MP, representing Victorian Premier Ben Carroll; Evan Mulholland MP, representing Victorian Opposition Leader Jess Wilson; Iwan Walters MP; Steve McGhie MP; Kathleen Matthews-Ward MP; Sarah Connolly MP; Bronwyn Halfpenny MP; and VMC Chairperson Louise Perry.
Diplomatic guests included Ambassador Anwar Mohammed of Ethiopia; Dr Tannous Kabiity, Consul General of Lebanon; Dr Belal Mahmood Ateya, Consul General of Iraq; Wajid Hassan Hashmi, Consul General of Pakistan; Ahmad Hammad, Consul of Egypt; Roland Jabbour, Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Morocco; and Faddy Zouki, Honorary Consul of Lebanon in Tasmania, together with mayors, councillors, government representatives, Victoria Police representatives and members of the business community.
The program featured a recitation from the Holy Qur’an and addresses by Hajj Mohamed Mehio, Dr Sheikh Ibrahim El Shafie, the Hon. Melissa Horne MP and Evan Mulholland MP, highlighting the significance of Mawlid and its message of love, unity and community harmony.
The celebration also featured devotional performances in praise of Prophet Muhammad, presentations by children and students, competitions and prizes, as well as the draw for an ^Umrah trip, with the prize presented to the winner on stage.
The Muslim Welfare Trust of Victoria and the Hararian Organisation extend their sincere appreciation to all religious leaders, dignitaries, diplomats, Members of Parliament, councillors, community organisations, volunteers, participating schools and chanting groups, as well as the families and community members whose participation contributed to the success of this special occasion.
تحت شعار «محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم على نهجه نحيا»، أقامت الجمعية الإسلامية الاجتماعية في فيكتوريا بالتعاون مع الجمعية الهررية في فكتوريا حفلاً جماهيرياً كبيراً بمناسبة ذكرى المولد النبوي الشريف 2026 في مجمع Westgate Indoor Sports، في مدينو ألتونا وسط حضور واسع من مختلف شرائح المجتمع.
وتقدم الحضور الحاج محمد محيو، رئيس جمعية المشاريع الخيرية الإسلامية (ICPA)، وفضيلة الشيخ الدكتور إبراهيم الشافعي، نائب أمين عام دار الفتوى – المجلس الإسلامي الأعلى في أستراليا، والشيخ محمد مهدي، إمام الجمعية الهررية، وربيع عبد الرحمن من الجمعية الإسلامية الاجتماعية في فكتوريا، والشيخ خالد حلبي إمام مسجد عثمان في غلنروي، إلى جانب عدد من المشايخ والأئمة ورؤساء وممثلي المؤسسات والجمعيات الإسلامية.
كما شهد الحفل حضوراً سياسياً ودبلوماسياً بارزاً، من بينهم الوزيرة ميليسا هورن، ممثلةً عن رئيس حكومة فيكتوريا بن كارول؛ وإيفان مولهولاند، ممثلاً عن زعيمة المعارضة جيس ويلسون؛ وإيوان والترز؛ وستيف ماكغي؛ وكاثلين ماثيوز-وارد؛ وسارة كونولي؛ وبرونوين هافبيني؛ ولويس بيري.
وعلى الصعيد الدبلوماسي، شارك السفير أنور محمد عن جمهورية إثيوبيا؛ والدكتور طنوس قبعيتي، القنصل العام للجمهورية اللبنانية؛ والدكتور بلال محمود عطية، القنصل العام لجمهورية العراق؛ وواجد حسن هاشمي، القنصل العام لجمهورية باكستان الإسلامية؛ وأحمد حماد، قنصل جمهورية مصر العربية؛ ورولاند جبور، القنصل الفخري للمملكة المغربية؛ وفادي زوقي، القنصل الفخري للجمهورية اللبنانية في تسمانيا، إلى جانب رؤساء وأعضاء مجالس بلدية وممثلي المؤسسات الحكومية وجهاز الشرطة ورجال الأعمال.
وتخلل الحفل تلاوة من القرآن الكريم، وكلمات للحاج محمد محيو وفضيلة الشيخ الدكتور إبراهيم الشافعي، إلى جانب كلمتين للوزيرة ميليسا هورن والسيد إيفان مولهولاند، أكدت جميعها أهمية المناسبة وما تحمله من معاني المحبة والتآلف والتواصل المجتمعي.
كما تضمن البرنامج فقرات إنشادية في مدح النبي محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم ، ومشاركات للأطفال وطلاب المدارس، ومسابقات وجوائز، بالإضافة إلى السحب على رحلة عمرة وتقديم الجائزة للفائز على المسرح وسط تفاعل كبير من الحضور.
وفي الختام، تتقدم الجمعية الإسلامية الاجتماعية في فيكتوريا والجمعية الهررية بالشكر والتقدير لجميع العلماء والمشايخ والشخصيات الرسمية والسياسية والدبلوماسية والمؤسسات والجمعيات، ولإدارة وطلاب مدرسة غلينروي الخاصة، وفرق الإنشاد والمتطوعين وفرق التنظيم والتجهيز، ولكل العائلات وأفراد المجتمع الذين أسهموا في نجاح هذه المناسبة.
