Congratulatory messages and recognitions continue to pour in following the awarding of the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) to His Eminence Professor Dr Sheikh Salim Alwan, Chairman of Darulfatwa Australia, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to Islam, Qur’anic studies, education, scientific research, and service to the Australian community.

In this context, the Muslim Welfare Trust of Victoria held a graduation ceremony in Melbourne honouring participants of the Al-Azhar course organised by Darulfatwa in Australia in collaboration with the World Organisation for Al-Azhar Graduates in the Arab Republic of Egypt. During the ceremony, Members of Parliament Ian Walters and Kathleen Ward on behalf of the premier of Victoria Hon Jacinta Allan MP presented His Eminence with a commemorative shield in recognition of his receipt of this prestigious national honour.

The Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Bilal El-Hayek, also presented a certificate of recognition on behalf of the Council in honour of Sheikh Alwan during a formal council session.

This distinction reflects a long and distinguished career spanning several decades of dedicated service in the fields of education, guidance, authorship, community leadership, and support for academic and religious institutions both within Australia and internationally.

His Eminence has also represented Australia and Australian Muslims at numerous international forums, contributing to the promotion of dialogue, mutual understanding, and cooperation with academic institutions, global organisations, and official figures worldwide.
