New Zealand Mosque terrorist attacks
Media Release
With deep sorrow and grief, our eyes shed tears and our hearts mourn with sadness and our tongue is bereft of words at the loss of the innocent lives of worshipers at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.
What has happened today is indeed an unprecedented act of terrorism on New Zealand's soil and one of its darkest days. Our thoughts and condolences not only as Muslims but Australians nationwide are extended to all New Zealanders who have been affected by this cold-blooded and atrocious act.
What is required now of all Australians and New Zealanders in addition to the global community is to stand together stronger than ever to face all forms of extremism and phobias that may operate under different wicked slogans.
Our Prime Minister, Mr Scott Morrison described the attackers as violent terrorists who undertook a right-wing extremist approach. We urge our Prime Minister and his government to give special attention to the rise of anti-Muslim sentiments and ensure that the concerns of the Muslim community are genuinely heard and enacted upon.
The ICPA strongly condemns these acts of evil which serve to cause disunity and disrupt the safety and security amongst all of us. We are confident that the New Zealand authorities will deal swiftly with these terrorists and we ask for justice to be served to ensure that abhorrent acts as this do not reoccur.
May God have mercy on those who lost their lives in this horrendous act and grant patience to their families and friends. Ameen.
